In electronic engineering V-I characteristics of diodes are often required to be represented in mathematical forms in order to analyze the performance of the circuit incorporating the diode. For this purpose least squares approximation or so is commonly used but the accuracy of it is not necessarily good. Therefore the method using Tchebycheff's q-functions is presented. The features of this method are the sufficient accuracy of the fitting and the capability of making the estimated value at the origin coincide with the actual one so that the physical property of the diode is satisfied.
