Handwriting interface has a great advantage over other interfaces when important information on the structure of and among objects to be put into is expressed in their size and position. Such information must be otherwise specified by commands or extra codes. Two types (creative-type and copy-type) of handwriting interface are designed, taking both interruption of thinking and labor for corrections into account. When a user is working on a tablet to solve or transform mathematical expressions , his thinking must not be interrupted and the interface should be natural and creative. On the other hand, the interface should be efficient for copying such expressions from a book or whatever else. The paper also presents modifications applied to the on-line character recognition system, JOLIS-2E, to adjust it, for mathematical expressions.AA1221543X情報処理学会研究報告ヒューマンコンピュータインタラクション(HCI)199134(1991-HI-036)181991-05-092009-06-30
